Resolve programme

Resolve targets men who have been convicted of violent offences, which can include physical violence, intimidation, blackmail or criminal damage, and works to reduce the likelihood of repeat offending.

Violence is a complex problem involving a range of circumstances, including emotions such as anger, jealousy, anxiety and fear. Other incidents of violence can be goal driven, and are described as instrumental violence. Given the complexity of human nature it is likely that no one cause and no one pattern fits all situations or all individuals.

The programme is a 21 session course delivered by specially trained probation staff, who work with the offenders as part of a group as well as on a one to one basis during the programme. They will learn more about the sorts of behaviour that can lead to violence, how personal issues play a part in their violence and get a better understanding of themselves.
