The national picture

Northumbria Community Rehabilitation Company works alongside the National Probation Service (NPS) to manage adult offenders in the community. It sits within the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), a key agency of the Ministry of Justice.

The Ministry of Justice is the government office which holds responsibility for probation, prisons, courts and reducing reoffending.

National Offender Management Service

The National Offender Management Service (NOMS) is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). It includes the prison service, National Probation Service and the 21 probation community rehabilitation companies across England and Wales.  

NOMS is responsible for the rehabilitation of offenders and reducing reoffending.

Northumbria Community Rehabilitation Company

Northumbria Community Rehabilitation Company (Northumbria CRC) supervises adult offenders in the community, to protect the public and reduce reoffending. 

Northumbria CRC is owned by Sodexo Justice Services, under contract with NOMS.

National Probation Service

The National Probation Service (NPS) is a public sector organisation with responsibility for probation work in courts, victim liaison, the risk assessment of offenders and the management of high risk offenders.
